“ViendoMovies,” the Spanish-language film channel that exclusively presents movies originally in this language without commercial interruptions, owned by SOMOSTV (a company led by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group), premieres this Saturday, March 16th at 9 PM (ET) the outstanding Spanish film “La Piel en Llamas”. This production has been well-received by both audiences and critics due to its timely and relevant theme, as well as its exceptional cinematic quality. “La Piel en Llamas” is directed by David Martín-Porras, who brings to the screen the well-known play of the same name by Guillem Clua in his directorial debut. The film participated in the official competition section of the 2022 Málaga Film Festival and was also part of the official selection at the BCN Film Festival. The plot revolves around the story of Frederick Sálomon, a war photojournalist who gained international fame by capturing the image of a girl soaring through the air as a result of an explosion. Twenty years later, Frederick returns to the country where he took the iconic photograph to receive an award that “cleanses the regime’s face.” However, a local journalist wants to kill him for a reason that only Sálomon knows.

The cast of “La Piel en Llamas” includes Óscar Jaenada (Goya Award winner for Best Actor in “Camarón”), Fernando Tejero (Goya Award winner for Best New Actor in “Días de fútbol”), and Ella Kwueku (“Ismael”), who portrays a determined journalist with the purpose of seeking justice. Actress Lidia Nené (“Black Beach”) takes on the role of an African woman who doesn’t hesitate to humble herself to save her young daughter.

“La Piel en Llamas” is a film that delves into profound and contemporary themes, including the cruelty of war, media manipulation, the power dynamics between the rich and the poor, and the influence of the West on the euphemistic term “third world.” The storyline runs parallel to current situations, exploring the tough themes of reconciliation and the quest for peace, regardless of whether one is a victim or a perpetrator.
