This month, the channel presents a cycle featuring Argentine actresses Mercedes Moran and Carla Peterson, along with specially selected films to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (Mexican community celebration) and Mother's Day on Sunday, May 11. On Sunday, May 4, ViendoMovies shows "Sueño Florianópolis" (2018), co-produced and directed by Ana Katz, starring Mercedes Morán, Andrea Beltrao, Gustavo Garzón, and Joaquín Garza, among others. It tells the story of a vacation trip from Buenos Aires to the Brazilian resort of Florianópolis, featuring first love, past lovers, fateful encounters, and fleeting joys. The film won at the Karlovy Vary Festival and participated in the Toronto Festival. On Sunday, May 18, the channel will show "El Amor Menos Pensado" (2018), starring Mercedes Morán and Argentine star Ricardo Darín, nominated at the San Sebastian Festival. In this film, Marcos and Ana are a couple married for 25 years. When their son leaves to study in Spain, they realize they have nothing holding them together as a couple. They decide to separate and begin experiencing their single life through a series of romantic misadventures via digital networks.

Carla Peterson is an Argentine actress and stage director with an extensive filmography (15 films), more than 11 theater works, and over 30 television productions. ViendoMovies will show the comedy "Mamá Se Fue de Viaje" (2017) on Sunday, May 11, and "Recreo" (2018) on May 25. In "Mamá Se Fue de Viaje," directed by Ariel Winograd with Diego Peretti and Carla Peterson, Vera Garbo, a housewife, takes a vacation away from her family, consisting of her husband Víctor, who lives only for his work, and their four children. The family then realizes how much they need her. In "Recreo," another comedy directed by Hernán Guerschuny and Jazmín Stuart, Carla Peterson shares the screen with Juan Minujín and Jazmín Stuart, among others. What was initially planned as a restful weekend for three couples with children turns into discussions, confrontations, and dark memories about past and present coexistence.

For premieres, on Saturday, May 10, the channel will show "42 Segundos" (Spain, 2022), and on Saturday, May 24, "Los Minutos Negros." "42 Segundos" is a sports drama directed by Alex Murrull and Dani de la Orden, starring Álvaro Cervantes and Jaime Lorente. The production is a popular dramatization of the men's national water polo team's journey at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. "Los Minutos Negros" (Mexico, 2021) is a Mexican police thriller directed by Mario Muñoz, based on Martín Solares' novel, starring Leonardo Ortizgris, Kristyan Ferrer, and Sofía Espinoza. In it, Vicente Rangel, a musician turned detective, takes on a police case to catch a child killer in a corrupt oil town in the Gulf of Mexico.

The SOMOSTV channel also celebrates Cinco de Mayo by highlighting 5 Mexican films from 5 different genres: "La Vida en el Silencio" (drama, 2022), "El Rey de Todo el Mundo" (musical, 2021), the multi-award-winning "Mexican Gangster" (action, 2014), "Seda" (romantic drama, 2017), winner of 7 industry awards, and "El Viaje de Keta" (comedy, 2020). Cinco de Mayo is celebrated by the Mexican-American community throughout the United States.

Finally, on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, the channel presents special programming for mothers, featuring during prime time "Mamá se Fue de Viaje" (Argentina, 2017), "Club Sandwich" (Mexican comedy, 2013), and "La Lucha de Ana" (2012), a Dominican film chosen by the Soberano Awards as the best film of 2012 and 2013. Its protagonist won the best actress award at this event. The film has been shown at more than 35 international festivals. Mother's Day holds special importance in all homes, dedicated to that person who gives the best of her life to their children and family.
